The Association; its
organisation
and objectives

Serving the Philatelic Community in Scotland.
The S.P.T.A. was founded in 1977 with the aims of
promoting
and protecting the philatelic business in Scotland, and of promoting
the
hobby in general.
Over thirty years on, the principles have not changed.
»
Collectors
can have confidence when dealing with any business which displays the
S.P.T.A.
logo, in the knowledge that the business has declared itself willing to
follow the Association’s standards for good business practice.
» A professional
body
which appreciates the differences (in legislation, custom, and
geography)
between Scotland and the other parts of the U.K.
» A group of
philatelic
professionals who actively try to raise standards.
» A complaints
procedure
which is designed to solve problems as fairly and easily as possible.
» The S.P.T.A. is
in
regular contact with collector organisations.
» Scotex, the
annual
national trade show, organised by the Association each year (around the
end of October/beginning of November). S.P.T.A. members have precedence
in stand allocations.
» Membership of the
S.P.T.A. is open to dealers in stamps, postal history, and postcards,
as
well as auctioneers, valuers, publishers, and any other philatelic
professionals.
» The S.P.T.A.
Stamp
Collecting Promotion Fund has funds available for the encouragement of
the hobby. Clubs, schools, or individuals should approach the Secretary
for details.
» A professional
body
which is keen to hear the views and opinions of collectors - their
customers.

The management of the Association is
in
the hands of the Executive Committee. It was last elected on 12 April
2004,
and comprises the following members;
